Professional Development

Cottonwood School staff are available to lead professional development training workshops for educators who want to learn more about Place-Based education and how to implement it in the classroom.

Possible programs include:

  • An Introduction to Place-Based Education: What? Why? How?
  • A Hands-on Workshop on How to Plan Place-Based Units
  • Building Mapping and Geography into the Curriculum
  • Place-Based Social Studies: Local History and Civics in Action
  • Place-Based Science
  • Place-Based Education on the School Grounds
  • Empathy, Play, and Place-Based Education in the Primary Grades

Some of these programs are available as full or half-day sessions or we can work with you to create a series of sessions throughout the year including site visits to help support the process. For more information contact Amanda McAdoo or Sarah Anderson.
