The Cottonwood School is located in the South Waterfront district of Portland, Oregon. We operate in a repurposed industrial building just one block west of the Willamette River and one block south of the Portland Streetcar north-south line. Historically home to several ship-building yards, the South Waterfront is now home to high-rise apartment buildings, restaurants, cafes, shops, and other services. Our largest neighbor is the Oregon Health and Science University, which operates an aerial tram between the lower campus in our district and the upper campus in west hills above. There are two city parks within blocks of our school; Caruther’s Park offers a large grassy area for running and games, and the South Waterfront Greenway supplies ample viewing of the river and Ross Island. The Westside Greenway bike and pedestrian trail borders our building and provides a safe route for students to walk to nearby Cottonwood Bay and Willamette Park farther south.
